Researchers at Imperial College London analyzed data from more than 26,000 British adults to find out how their sleep times and patterns affect cognitive abilities.
The study found that people who preferred to be active in the evening generally performed better on cognitive abilities than those who were used to waking up early in the morning. While
quality sleep helps improve brain function regardless of sleep routine, the researchers found differences between different sleep routines.
In the study, people who were active in the evening had 13.5 percent higher cognitive abilities than those who were active in the morning, while those with unspecified sleep patterns also had 6.3 percent higher scores than those who were active in the morning.
